Italian Academic Conference: Asylum for Chinese Religious Refugees Focused

In recent years, religious persecution in China has become increasingly severe, forcing many believers to flee. Religious persecution in China and asylum for religious refugees have become topics of focus in several western countries. On October 26, 2019, a conference on “religious persecution and the right to asylum” was held in the City Hall of Milan, Italy. Over 100 people attended the conference, including Italian scholars, judges and lawyers, as well as Christians from The Church of Almighty God (CAG). The persecution of CAG and asylum for its refugees receives focused attention.

A concurrent march was held in Hong Kong to memorialize the day of this national tragedy. Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hongkongers, and Christians from The Church of Almighty God (CAG) also in Germany, Belgium, and Canada in protest of CCP tyranny and in support of persecuted religious groups in Hong Kong and mainland China.

In the early 2018, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to implement its new Regulations on Religious Affairs, thereby throwing a cloak of legitimacy over Xi Jinping’s “Sinicization of religion” policy. It also folded the State Administration for Religious Affairs into the CCP’s United Front Work Department to increase its control and suppression of religion, further laying bare the CCP’s evil attempts to completely ban religious beliefs and eradicate all religions in China. Its suppression and persecution of religious beliefs has been escalated to a political campaign, leading to a general deterioration in conditions for religion throughout China.

In 2019, the CCP’s persecution of religion and faith in Mainland China has reached a peak. But it shamelessly claims that religious freedom exists in China. Ms. Lea Perekrests, deputy director of Human Rights Without Frontiers, spoke at the conference “The Long Arm of the Dragon: China’s Persecution of Believers at Home and Abroad” held in Seoul, South Korea on June 20, denouncing the CCP’s brutal suppression of The Church of Almighty God, Uyghurs and Falun Gong.
